MANCHESTER, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Manchester Police are investigating shots fired during an interrupted catalytic converter theft early Thursday morning.

An area resident, hearing what he believed to be a power saw outside, looked outside to see a dark gray vehicle parked backwards in his driveway, police say.

The car is described as "unknown" to the resident.

The resident witnessed an additional man was underneath a car belonging to the resident's neighbor.

When the witness confronted the group, one of the male suspects drew a handgun and pointed it at the resident. A second male suspect also displayed a gun.

The resident quickly retreated back inside.

After closing the door, multiple gun shots were heard, and the dark gray vehicle fled the area at a high rate of speed.

Police say the gunshots did not injure anyone.

Shell casings were located in the driveway of 51 Hamlin Street. Officers confirmed a catalytic converter was stolen.

Additionally, the driver's side of the victim's vehicle was smashed.

Additional vehicles in the area of Pearl Street and Holl Street were located with smashed windows, and it is believed these incidents of criminal mischief are related.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Manchester Police Department at (860) 645-5500 or the Investigative Services Unit at (860) 645-5575.
