MIDDLEBURY, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - There's a special election Tuesday to fill a vacancy for the 71st Assembly District, which consists of the entirety of Middlebury and a portion of Waterbury.
The election is to fill the state House seat vacated by former State Rep. Anthony D'Amelio, who retired at the end of 2021 to spend time more time with his family and to focus on his restaurant business.
The special election pits Republican Bill Pizzuto against Democrat John Egan. The polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
