NORWICH, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Norwich Police say a Springfield man who escaped bail enforcement personnel after a "bean bag" shooting is under arrest.
Police say they went to Lake Street on September 12, 2023, where Jonathan Muckinhaupt, 29, of Springfield, was seen after fleeing from bail enforcement personnel.
Officers learned, upon arrival, that bail enforcement personnel fired “bean bag” shotgun rounds into and at Muckinhaupt’s vehicle, striking him.
He then fled the scene in that vehicle and was not located.
A Norwich Police detective was able to lead to Muckinhaupt's arrest on Thursday.
He's charged with first-degree assault, first-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful discharge of a firearm, second-degree breach of peace, second-degree criminal mischief, and risk of injury to a minor.
Muckinhaupt was issued a $25,000 court set bond and bonded out shortly after his arrest.
His arraignment date is October 12, 2023, at Norwich Superior Court.
