Advocates: expand Husky coverage for immigrant minors

Hartford, Conn. (WTIC Radio)-Stakeholders are calling for expanded Husky Healthcare coverage for immigrant minors up to eighteen years of age.

Currently children up to age eight are provided coverage. More than 2-hundred people plan to testify on the Senate bill before the Human Services Committee.

Yanira Lopez immigrated from Honduras. Through an interpreter she asked lawmakers "To think about what it's like to be a parent with  children that have no access to insurance because of immigration status. I hope the committee will look favorably for our children to receive the coverage."
