Oxford, Conn./WTIC Radio - The start of school in Oxford is being delayed.
Superintendent of School Dr. Robert Miller says the extent of the damage to roads and infrastructure led them to make the call.
Originally slated to open August 28th for the 2024-25 school year, Miller says the best case scenario for the opening would be sometime the week of September 3rd.
"Roads are shut down, others have visual damage on the sides of the road, and others are compromised without any visual cues" Miller said.
He says they will undertake a complete safety evaluation before buses are given clearance to drive on the streets.
Miller says any days missed at the beginning of the year will be added to the June calender, as is the procedure with snow days.
