MARLBOROUGH, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police arrest an East Hampton man who allegedly led a high-speed pursuit with a Trooper after being clocked at 105 miles per hour on Route 66 in Marlborough.
Troopers observed James Secore, 27, of East Hampton, traveling at a high rate of speed towards the town of East Hampton from the center of Marlborough around 8:35 p.m. on Wednesday, March 13, 2024.
he Trooper noted that as the GMC approached vehicles traveling ahead of it, the operator maneuvered into the opposing lane to pass, while being clocked at 105 m.p.h.
The Trooper, who was positioned ahead of the GMC, activated his cruiser’s head/taillights, at which time the operator accelerated, allegedly reaching speeds estimated to be in excess of 115 m.p.h.
The G.M.C. was then observed passing another vehicle by entering the opposing lane of travel, at the crest of a hill, in a curved section of the roadway, creating a risk of serious physical injury to themself and others.
As the Trooper caught up to the GMC, it abruptly turned into a residential driveway.
Troopers say Secore exited the GMC after being directed by the Trooper to remain inside of the vehicle.
Believing that Secore was about to flee from the scene on foot, State Police immediately took Secore into custody without further incident.
During the course of the investigation, Secore allegedly admitted verbally to State Police that he was aware that the Trooper was about to initiate a traffic stop and that he purposefully accelerated and entered a driveway in an attempt to elude the Trooper.
Secore is charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, interfering with an officer, and reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
