Old Saybrook, Conn./WTIC Radio - Two Connecticut state troopers are being lauded for their efforts in rescuing a woman this week from the Baldwin Bridge along Interstate 95.

The span links Old Saybrook and Old Lyme.

Troopers were called Monday to find the woman seated on a 5-inch ledge of the bridge after they say she climbed a fence from the pedestrian walkway about 100-feet above the Connecticut River.

Sergeant Matthew Belz was able to talk to the woman while his partner, Sergeant Ashley Harkins, climbed the fence and positioned herself behind the woman.

The distressed woman climbed on to Harkins legs and was pulled over the fence by Belz to safety.

She was taken for evaluation and there were no injuries.
