Stratford police arrest juvenile over social media threat

STRATFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Stratford police arrested a juvenile Monday after the department was made aware of a social media threat directed toward the Stratford school system.

According to police, the threat posted on social media was directed at students and faculty of the school system.

Investigators quickly identified the suspect, police said, and took the juvenile suspect into custody for posting the threat.

The department put additional officers at the schools as a precautionary measure during the school day, police said.

"The Stratford Police Department and Board of Education treat all perceived threats, valid or not, seriously and have worked diligently to ensure the safety of all students and faculty to provide a safe learning and work environment," police said in a statement.

No other information was released about the incident.
