HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ The SEIU 1199 New England union delivers strike notices at six group home agencies.

Strike notices have been sent to group home agencies Oak Hill, Network, Whole Life, Mosaic, Journey Found, and Sunrise at over 200 sites.


More than 2,000 caregivers in those group home systems are ready to go on strike on Friday, May 21, 2021, at 6 a.m.

A strike notice has been sent to 33 nursing home facilities, as nursing home workers threaten a strike on Friday, May 14, 2021, at 6 a.m.

Both groups of healthcare workers are calling for better wages, benefits, and staffing.

All group home union contracts are expired.

The SEIU 1199 NE says negotiations with the State have broken down. Governor Lamont's proposed two-year budget includes no raises or benefits, union officials say.

Earlier in the week, CT House Speaker Matt Ritter says he supports a fight to get these workers better pay and benefits.
