Strong overnight winds knock power out across Connecticut

Severe weather that moved across Connecticut spanning Monday into early Tuesday knocked power out to residents scattered across the state.

The Connecticut Department of Transportation reported downed trees and various other issues behind roughly two dozen closures on state roads. You can check the updated traffic closures list here.


Local towns are also experiencing isolated back road closures, downed wires, or debris that's peppered on roadways.

Eversource was reporting around 30,000 outages Tuesday morning. Many of the outages were in pockets across the state, with larger outages reported in Eastern Connecticut towns like Ashford, Chaplin, Hampton, Groton, and North Stonington. You can check the updated outages list here.
