HARTFORD, CONN (WTIC Radio)-Advocates, including two Mayors, participated in a rally at the state Capitol to urge passage of the early voting measure by the State Senate.
The measure calls for a 14-day early voting period, originally suggested by Secretary of the State Stephanie Thomas.
The state House has already passed the measure.
Supporters at the rally said Connecticut has to move into the 21 st Century and eliminate what they say are some of the most restrictive voting laws in the country.
46 other states have adopted early voting measures.
Those speaking at the rally included Hartford Mayor Luke Bronin and Middletown Mayor Benjamin Florsheim.
Connecticut voters approved a constitutional measure last fall.
Advocates said the state will have to provide at least $8 million in order to allow adequate polling places.
