
Waterbury, Conn./WTIC Radio - A stolen car investigation turned into a drowning Tuesday in Waterbury according to police.
Officers say a 17-year-old drowned after jumping into Lakewood Lake to elude officers who were pursuing a total of four teens in a stolen vehicle.
An officer investigating one stolen car on Grilleytown Road just after noon noticed another vehicle that had been reported stolen out of Ridgefield parked on Sage Drive.
Four suspects, including the driver who is 14, fled.
He and another 16-year-old suspect were apprehended while the other two fled into the nearby woods.
One of those suspects was ultimately arrested.
The second teen, 17, who jumped in the lake and did not resurface.
He was later found by a dive team and pronounced dead at St. Mary's Hospital.
The three surviving suspects are facing charges.
State Police are investigating the drowning.
