WILTON, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The Wilton Police Department has arrested a Texas man who allegedly posed as a Wilton Planning and Zoning Department employee to scam residents.
Police say Marc-Anthony Chibueze Opurum, 34, of Wylie, TX, claimed to be a town employee when he sent fraudulent emails to no less than five victims, asking for money to be paid to a provided bank account to cover "application fees" that were "outstanding."
Video surveillance shows Opurum opening one of the bank accounts in Texas where he lives.
Opurum, who was previously unreachable, according to Police, flew up from Texas to turn himself in.
