A line of severe thunderstorms moving east out of New York slammed into western Connecticut before moving across the rest of the state.

The storms produced enough strength to cause localized flooding and downed tree limbs in southwestern cities and towns including Danbury, Stamford, Greenwich, and Darien.

As the storm system moved across the rest of the state, the thunderstorms and their impact generally weakened but carried enough weight to cause hundreds of outages in communities including Hartford, Farmington, Bristol, and Cromwell.
