Two charged with striking police vehicles in Manchester

Manchester, Conn./WTIC Radio - Two men are under arrest in Manchester after police say they stole a vehicle on Tuesday and wound up crashing into a pair of police cruisers.

The incident began just after 11:00 a.m., police said.

An officer on routine patrol spotted the stolen vehicle traveling south on Adams Street.

Officers said additional units responded and boxed the suspect vehicle in while it was stopped in traffic.

The alleged driver, Xavier Roman, 18, backed into one cruiser and then accelerated forward, striking a second police vehicle.

Roman and his alleged accomplice, Efrain Nunez, 19, made a run for it until they were captured in a wooded area.

Police said Roman is charged with larceny, conspiracy, interfering with police and other offenses.  He's free on $100,000 bond.

Nunez is charged with conspiracy and interfering.  He posted a $50,000 bond.
