
WESTBROOK, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Two people are dead after two separate crashes in Westbrook on Friday.
State Police report the first crash happened around 7:42 a.m. when a tractor trailer traveling northbound on I-95 near Exit 64 spilled its load of plywood across both the northbound and southbound lanes.
That crash caused four chain-reaction crashes that wrecked all vehicles.
One of the drivers, Nicholas Kupec, 39, of Waterford, was taken to Yale New Haven Hospital with serious injuries but later died.
On the southbound side of I-95 around 9:27 a.m., State Police say Isabella Butzgy, 22, of Montville, drover her 2016 Izuzu into the back of a tractor trailer in the area of Exit 65.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
