NORWALK, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Two probationary Norwalk police officers resign over concerns arising from the hiring process.
Probationary Officers Pecirep and Ortiz were sworn in as probationary officers in Norwalk on Thursday. By Friday the two resigned from the force.
Norwalk Police cite two errors on the department's end of the hiring process.
Pecirep's background check found he was cleared of a past office-involved shooting incident. But, the Norwalk Police Department says information regarding the shooting incident should have been better vetted.
The background check for Ortiz failed to reveal he was involved in a pending lawsuit.
The Norwalk Police Department says it is reviewing the hiring process to determine specific failures in this case.
