Storrs, Conn./WTIC Radio - The UConn men's basketball team is set to honor legend Richard "Rip" Hamilton next month.

Hamilton will have his number 32 retired February 24th at halftime of the game against Villanova.

Hamiliton, the program's second all-time leading scorer behind Chris Smith, becomes the second men's player to have his number retired, joining Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Famer Ray Allen, who wore number 34 with the Huskies.

In his three seasons at UConn, Hamilton averaged 19.8 points per game.

He was a two-time All-American in 1998 and 1999.

Hamilton was also Big East Player of the Year both years, one of only six to accomplish that feat.

He helped lead UConn to a national championship in 1999.

In addition to his college exploits, Hamilton was a three-time NBA All-Star who averaged 17.1 points for the Washington Wizards, Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls.

The 2003-04 Pistons won the NBA Championship with Hamilton averaging 17.6 points per game.
