Southington, Conn. (WTIC Radio)-A Waterbury man died in a car crash on Queen Street in Southington just after midnight and medical providers determined he was also shot in the back, police said.
Jose Principe, 28, died at an area hospital. It's unknown if the gunshot wound was a contributing factor in his death. An autopsy will be performed at the Office of Chief Medical Examiner.
A second person, Victor Perez, 43, of Meriden was arrested by police. He is believed to have a possible connection to the incident. Perez was observed walking away from the area, in close proximity to the crash. Police said it's unclear if he was a passenger in the vehicle or an associate of the victim.
Perz is charged with criminal possession of a pistol and interferring with officers.
Bond is $750,000.00 and he appears in New Britain Superior Court today.
