Bristol, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - The city of Bristol is announcing voluntary water restrictions.
The restrictions go into effect immediately.
According to a press release from the Mayor's Office, reservoir levels have dropped to around 70 percent of capacity due to a lack of measurable rainfall.
Robert Longo, the superintendent of the Bristol Water and Sewer Department said “Although much of the State has been in a drought over the past few months, levels in Bristol have remained fair, yet as we continue to see a lack of precipitation, we must issue Voluntary Restrictions for the City".
Officials are asking residents to limit outdoor water use and to adhere to an odd/even system of watering.
Those with even street numbers can water on even days of the month.
Residents whose properties are odd numbers can water on odd days of the month.
