Hartford, Conn./WTIC Radio - A vote by the state Bond Commission to reduce the public benefits charges on electric bills is set for next week.
Governor Lamont says he's scheduled a meeting of the commission for next Friday, August 1st.
At the meeting, commissioners will consider Lamont's request to release $155 million to reduce the benefits charge.
That's the portion of the bill that deals with purchase, distribution and procurement of electricity along with assistance for low-income customers, among other things.
It's that portion of the bill that many consumers have decried as their bills have spiked in the last year.
If approved, the reductions would take effect in September and continue for several months into next year.
