HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ Democratic Representative Geraldo Reyes Jr. of Waterbury will Chair the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus alongside Vice Chair, Democratic Representative Bobby Gibson of Bloomfield, for the 2021-2022 legislative sessions.
In a written statement Monday, Rep. Reyes notes his new role comes "as we take today to remember and honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I am humbled to have been elected to serve as Chair of the Black and Puerto Rican Caucus and to join colleagues in continuing our work on issues that are important to the communities we serve,” Rep. Reyes said.
Rep. Reyes says the caucus of 32 people will add the pandemic and its related issues to their agenda.
The BPRC says it has to deal with issues leftover from last year's agenda, including police accountability and fair housing.
