SOUTHINGTON, CONN (WTIC Radio)-A Waterbury resident who backed into a Southington Police cruiser after a traffic stop and fled, was eventually apprehended and faces a host of charges, including drugs and weapons.
The incident happened Thursday afternoon on Queen Street. Police pulled over the Honda Civic for a traffic violation. The driver, identified as Miguel Narvaez, 31, of Waterbury, quickly exited the vehicle. He then backed into the Southington Police officer's vehicle, causing non-disabling damage.
Narvaez then took off at a high rate of speed, driving recklessly on Queen Street. He then struck the guardrail on I-84 Westbound and his vehicle became disabled.
Narvaez fled into a small wooded area, carrying his backpack. Police established a perimeter and took the suspect into custody. His backpack included a semi-automatic handgun with no serial number, known as a ghost gun and a loaded large capacity magazine. The backpack also contained 100 bags of pre-packaged heroin, a small amount of cocaine and a large amount of cash.
Narvaez faces ten charges including reckless driving, possessing of narcotics and reckless endangerment.
