Waterbury Police arrest a city woman who was allegedly under the influence when she crashed into a pedestrian on Thursday night.
Police say Meralis Rivera-Maldonado, 38, of Waterbury, struck a 43-year-old Danbury man where she was driving in the 600 block of South Main Street around 9:45 p.m. on Thursday night.
Rivera-Maldonado continued forward after hitting the pedestrian and hitting two other vehicles before stopping, according to investigators.
During a police interview at the scene, officers say they witnessed signals and indicators that she was intoxicated.
Rivera-Maldonado is charged with second-degree manslaughter with a motor vehicle, reckless driving, and operating under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
