WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)—The town of West Hartford is reinstating a mask requirement for all its municipal buildings effective Wednesday, August 4.

Employees and visitors will be required to wear a mask upon entering a municipal building, town officials said.

The mask must be worn while the person is inside the building, including in public areas like restrooms, hallways and meeting rooms.

According to town officials, the requirement has been reinstated in accordance with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the State Department of Public Health (DPH).

Over the weekend, DPH issued guidance for indoor mask wearing statewide, strongly recommending all residents over the age of two to wear a mask while indoors regardless of vaccination status.

West Hartford municipal buildings will have masks available for visitors who do not have one on hand, town officials said.

Exceptions will be made to those who have health issues that prevent them from wearing a mask, officials said.

The town joins the city of New London which reinstated a face mask requirement for its municipal buildings in early August.
