WINCESTER, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police arrest a Winchester man in connection with a road rage incident that happened on Route 8 in Thomaston.

Troopers say they responded to the report Tuesday that a driver on Route 8 in Thomaston merged their Chevrolet Silverado unsafely into a lane when the driver of the Chevy brake-checked the victim repeatedly.

The Chevy and the other vehicle were able to avoid a collision, when the driver of the Chevy allegedly slowed to go alongside the victim vehicle, while pointing a firearm at them and almost forcing them off the road by swerving into their lane.

The person making the complaint was able to get the Chevy's license plate, which tracked to a residence in Torrington.

It led to the arrest of Matthew Bielefield, 33, of Winchester, who was in possession of a Byrna pepperball gun.

Bielefield is being charged with reckless driving, illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, second-degree breach of peace, and first-degree threatening while displaying a firearm.

Bond is $50,000.
