SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A worker was seriously injured early Monday in a workplace accident at a South Windsor pasta company.

Police say the worker got his arm, up to his elbow, stuck in a piece of machinery before dawn at Carla's Pasta on Talbot Lane.

Emergency crews were called to the scene shortly before 3:30 a.m. and the worker was freed shortly after 6 a.m., said police.

The worker was transported to the hospital by a waiting LifeStar helicopter. He had serious arm injuries, said police. There was no immediate word on his condition.

What caused the accident is under investigation, but police say there were no signs of foul play.
