(WTIC Radio) - Connecticut State Police say a Danbury woman is dead and several people are injured after a wrong-way crash in Waterbury on Sunday.
Troopers responded to the area of I-84 Eastbound near Exit 18 around 6:21 p.m., where a Honda Accord caused a crash while driving in the wrong direction.
The Accord sideswiped a BMW that was trying to avoid a crash, and then crashed head-on into a Chevrolet Tahoe that was traveling behind the BMW.
The passenger in the Accord, Francisca Jessennia Cortez Arias, 45, of Danbury, died at St. Mary's Hospital.
The driver of the Accord is seriously injured and is receiving hospital care at Waterbury Hospital.
One passenger in the Tahoe has life-threatening injuries and is hospitalized at Waterbury Hospital, while two other people who were inside the Tahoe have minor injuries.
