HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC Radio)_ The XL Center in downtown Hartford is being considered as one possible location for a retail sports betting site.
XL Center General Manager Ben Weiss tells WTIC News he learned the Connecticut Lottery expressed interested in the XL Center through the Capital Region Development Authority.
The Connecticut Lottery is soliciting bids from possible locations for the Lottery's 12 statewide retail sports betting locations.
"We've seen other retail sports betting locations and other venues in other parts of the country that do look like a sports-bar-type environment...TV's everywhere with the ability to place a bet with a teller or electronic kiosk," says Weiss. He admits it's early in the process and it's impossible to tell what the XL Center could look like, if it is chosen for the retail sports betting in Hartford.
It could be several weeks before the Connecticut Lottery announces finalized locations for retail sports betting.
