HARTFORD, Connecticut (WTIC radio)
A few things to consider if you're thinking about getting a vanity plate for your car.
The State Department of Motor Vehicles normally gets huge requests for vanity plates, but not everyone makes the cut. In fact in 2023,
more than 2-hundred requests for personalized plates were rejected. Last year nearly 4- hundred requests were denied. This is according to information released by the DMV and reported by the Hartford Courant . The DMV has an entire unit that reviews the personalized license plate requests.
DMV officials say a proposed plate is rejected when it is not available, meaning already in use; it exceeds the character limit, as Connecticut has a 7-character limit; or the request was found to be offensive.
