Dennis Hernandez, the older brother of the late New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez, was arrested earlier this month after an altercation with police and claims that he allegedly made plans to carry out a school shooting.

According to a police report, Hernandez was taken into custody on July 18 after an incident with police where he threatened to kill officers who had gone to his home in Bristol, Connecticut. While officers were outside his home, he allegedly walked out and began threatening them, the Boston Globe reported.

“Dennis exited the residence. He walked around the back and began advancing towards the police with his hands outstretched to his side,” an officer wrote in the documents obtained by Boston 25 News. “He began yelling 'shoot me' and disregarded the numerous police commands.”

Officers reported using a stun gun in his arrest.

While being taken to the hospital by police, Hernandez allegedly said he planned on killing anyone who had made a profit from his younger brother, the arrest report said.

Police arrived at the former UConn football player’s home after two women, who are allegedly close to him, told police they were worried about his deteriorating mental health, Fox News reported. One also said she thought he had been planning a school shooting.

The 37-year-old was also arrested earlier this year after he threw a bag containing a brick and note over a fence onto ESPN’s property in Bristol. He was scheduled to appear in court on July 7 but did not, The Associated Press reported.

One of the women claimed that Hernandez told her he had instead driven onto his alma mater’s campus in Storrs and Brown University’s campus in Providence on July 7 so he could “map the schools out.” The woman told police she thought that he was planning a school shooting.

UConn police were able to confirm that a vehicle linked to Hernandez was on campus the day the woman said he was.

The other woman told police that while he was talking to her, Hernandez said he had “a bullet for everyone,” the arrest report said.

The police report also included several threatening text messages that Hernandez had sent. In one, he said he was going to make UConn pay.

“UConn program is going to pay unless I have a package deal and I get my estate and every single thing I have worked for. The coaches and university officials want to be selfish and selective about sh**, well I am too. Very. They are going to get surprised. Love you, I would recommend remaining away from there because when I go I’m taking down everything and I don’t give a [expletive] who gets caught in the crossfire,” Hernadez wrote in a message police documents revealed. “I’ve died for [years] now and now its other peoples turn. I’m prepared to give my life so if I don’t get to see you on the outside know I love you always. Not all shootings are bad I’m realizing. Some are necessary for change to happen.”

Police were also able to find a text message he sent to one of the women, in which he wrote that about being angry at Uconn’s coaches and school officials, saying he was “taking down everything.”

Hernandez is currently being held on $250,000 bail and is due back in court on Aug. 1 on charges including threatening.
