Charges have been filed against a Red Lake, Minnesota woman in connection to a horrific abduction last week of a three-year old boy. The abduction caused an Amber Alert to be issued.

The Todd County Attorney's Office says 35-year old Jennifer Stately is facing charges of assault, torture, neglect and malicious punishment of a child.

Prosecutors say the three-year old missing boy was found in a vehicle with Stately late Friday night suffering from a number of serious physical wounds.

Newly released court documents describe the terrible health the boy was in when deputies found him. Those included apparent burns on his body, rotting teeth and open sores. His teeth were in such bad shape, nurses reported he couldn't even eat a cheese stick.

Deputies also said the boy had a very strong smell as if he had not been washed or changed in some time. The boy’s cheeks were red and the sores appeared to be bleeding. The boy’s feet were full of scabs, both new and old. Deputies noted that the boy didn’t want to walk because of the pain to his feet.

He was taken to Long Prairie Hospital for further evaluation.

Stately is currently in jail in Todd County. If convicted, she faces up to 25 years behind bars. Charges include malicious punishment of a child, torture of a child, 3rd degree assault of a victim under four, and neglect of a child resulting in both physical and emotional harm.
