Been there, done that.
The 5-to-11 year olds who became the nation's first in their age group to get the Pfizer COVID vaccine returned to Hartford Hospital Tuesday for their second doses.
Not a tear was shed. In fact, the young man who was, again, first in line dared to call it "fun!"
"Very excited, and it's really, really fun," said Kareem Omar, 7, of Simsbury. "I wasn't gonna cry because it hurt a lot. It kind of hurt, but it was really, really quick and that made it feel better."
Kareem handled several short media interviews like a pro, even though he was anxious to pick up a treat from the lobby Starbuck's.

Kareem's mom, Reem Nouh, was more than happy to help her son get that treat. She calls his second dose a confidence-booster, further protecting him against the virus: "We were here (Nov. 3) as soon as the CDC approved it, and it was like, let's get them vaccinated, they've been waiting so long, all these kiddos, and they're all super-brave. He hopes to be a role model for other kids."
