If you had Oct. 7 as the actual launch date for online and retail sports betting in Connecticut, you should have taken the "over."
Citing regulatory red tape, the Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) announced on Wednesday the action would not start on Thursday as scheduled.
"We are still working to finalize the details of the statewide online and retail launch of sports betting," wrote DCP spokesperson Kaitlyn Krasselt, "and we are working with the licensees to ensure their platforms are certified and in compliance with the regulations prior to launch."
No new launch date has been announced, but officials say the delay won't be "lengthy."
The Connecticut Lottery, Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods are set to offer online gaming. The lottery will also offer sports betting at retail locations. Sports wagers are already being taken at the casinos.
