
The remains of Ida, the storm that swamped the Gulf Coast, dropped non-stop rain on Connecticut well into Thursday morning. Flood Warnings remain up across the state.
Many rivers and streams are overflowing. There's particular concern in Norwich, where the Yantic River could crest at about 12 feet this afternoon, well above flood stage.
On its way to Southern New England, the storm produced epic amounts of rain from the mid-Atlantic to New York City, spawning tornadoes in Maryland and New Jersey.
In Connecticut, bands of torrential rain fell Wednesday night and well into Thursday morning. According to National Weather Service reports, Farmington, Bristol and Canton in Hartford County plus Vernon and Willimantic in Tolland County are among those communities that got more than 6 inches.
Train service was suspended Thursday morning because of the inundation.
