Conn. (WTIC Radio) - Online sports betting is live in Connecticut, with a "soft launch" for products offered by the Connecticut Lottery, Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun. The launch started Tuesday afternoon, and is scheduled to last for one week.

"We're really excited... to watch the activity rolling through," CT Lottery President & CEO Greg Smith said.

Chicago-based Rush Street Interactive is responsible for the all-important technology behind CT Lottery's programs, which are offered through the Play SugarHouse app and website.

"Rush Street has done this before," Smith said. "They're active in many states, online and in retail... The idea that it's done and that they know how to do it is really what's important to us."

Foxwoods is partnering with DraftKings and Mohegan Sun with FanDuel. Last month, both casinos opened sports book operations on their properties.

Smith called the soft launch "a good chance for all of the systems to be tested with a limited number of patrons."

About 750 accounts will be opened over the 7-day launch period.
