Woodstock, Conn. WTIC)-Fire raced through a more than three hundred year old farmhouse in Woodstock this morning, destroying it and injuring four people, as well as killing five dogs and a pet bird. The farmhouse is located on Route 169.

Woodstock Fire Marshal Dick Baron says the four people are very lucky to have escaped because, in his words, "there was no more time left."

All four suffered smoke inhalation and burns. One individual was transported  to the UMass Medical center for further treatment. More than a dozen nearby departments provided mutual aid. The fire was  called in just after midnight.

The cause of the fire is still being determined.
