(Hartford, Conn. WTIC) As a Polar Vortex delivers frigid temperatures the next few days, stakeholders are reminding state residents about the homeless and the need to find shelter by calling 2-1-1.
The Community Renewal Team's Jason Black says by calling 2-1-1, staff can refer you to the closet regional shelter. Black says the other reason to call that number is some shelters have closed because of Covid. He says at all facilities Covid protocols are followed. He adds simply showing up is discouraged.
Black also says some municipalities such as Hartford, Enfield and Manchester will be operating warming centers during the day. Black says the Hartford operation will be open 24 hours.
