(WASHINGTON, D.C. WTIC)-Calling for greater transparency by our government, Senator Richard Blumenthal introduced the September 11th Transparency Act of 2021

Blumenthal was joined by co-sponsor New Jersey Senator Bob Menendez and families of the victims.

The measure looks to open secret documents linking Saudi officials to some of the 9/11 hijackers. Nearly three-thousand died that day. Others have since succumbed from the toxic fallout. Blumenthal said the goal is about delivering justice to the families regarding the role the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia played in the attacks. He said nothing political or diplomatic should interfere with that process.

Brett Eagleson of Connecticut lost his dad in the attack when he was just fifteen. He says our government needs to care about its citizens more than about embarrassing the nation of Saudi Arabia. Eagleson says both the directors of the FBI and Department of Justice are disrespecting Congress by failing to release the documents.

Senators are hoping the measure comes before a hearing next month.
