HARTFORD, Connecticut (WTIC radio)
The WNBA's Connecticut Sun opens up the new season Sunday May 18th against the Washington Mystic at Mohegan Sun, however
will this be the teams last season opener in Connecticut? Talk is heating up over the Connecticut Sun being put on the market.
The team’s owners reportedly have hired the investment bank Allen & Company to look into a sale. Governor Ned Lamont says he will be reaching out to the Mohegan tribe, the teams owners.
$100 million dollars has been allocated into renovating the XL center in Hartford which the governor and state lawmakers hope
will be an incentive for the Sun to remain in Connecticut. Meanwhile, Boston has reportedly been interested in acquiring a WNBA team.
The Connecticut Sun, at one time was the Orlando Miracle. The team moved to Connecticut in 2003.
