Michael King throws seventh immaculate inning in Yankees history vs. Red Sox

Put Michael King in the Yankees’ record books for being spotless.

Immaculate, actually, as King threw an immaculate inning – three strikeouts on nine pitches – in the top of the fourth inning of Friday’s Yankees-Red Sox game, marking just the seventh time in franchise history that has occurred and the first time one has been thrown in a Yankees-Red Sox game.

The inning included four called strikes, three swinging strikes, and two foul balls, with the three swinging strikes all coming to finish off the strikeouts of Hunter Renfroe, Marwin Gonzalez, and Christian Vazquez, respectively. Check out the entire inning below:

The last immaculate inning in Yankees history came from Dellin Betances, who did it on August 2, 2017 against Detroit. The others: Al Downing (8/11/67 at Cleveland), Ron Guidry (8/7/84 vs. White Sox), AJ Burnett (6/20/09 at Florida), Ivan Nova (5/29/13 vs. Mets), and Brandon McCarthy (9/17/14 at Tampa Bay).
