Legendary Patriots kicker Adam Vinatieri officially retired this week after being out of football in 2020. My connection to Adam is different than my oldest son, Connor. C is 19 years old and a massive Patriots fan, but has little to no connection to the early part of the Patriots dynasty. You are not allowed to call yourself a Patriots fan if you don’t know about the snow kicks in the ‘Tuck Rule’ game. And he does. But some fans just don’t know much about the first three Super Bowls. I will never forget being at Super Bowl 36 walking down the ramp with the rest of the Boston media with everyone in shock that the Patriots pulled it off. I’m excited that young Patriots fans get a chance to learn about Vinatieri’s importance to the success of the beginning of the Belichick Era. Early on, he was as important as Tom Brady.
-- I am beyond excited to see how creative Celtics fans get in harassing Kyrie Irving on Friday and Sunday night.
-- And Kyrie can piss all the way off. Mr. No Accountability. He’s like the bratty kid who says whatever he has to in any situation.
-- A Bryson DeChambeau/Brooks Koepka rivalry could be great for golf and those who like spite and malice. Those dudes don’t like each other.
-- How in the hell is the IOC going to pull off the Olympics in Japan? Seems like Japan doesn’t want them, but the amount of money at stake means the games will go on. Cash is king.
-- After going to three Eastern Conference finals the last four years, my hope is that this existing Celtics core is humbled, and now realize they aren’t as good as they think.
-- I have never listened to the #DORKpodcast.
-- Congrats to Rob Font who won his fight against Cody Garbrandt last weekend at UFC Fight Night. He is now in line for a bantamweight title shot on PPV. At the moment, Font is medically suspended for 180 days or until he gets his right leg cleared by a doctor. As long as I see the title fight in 2021, I’m good.
-- My gut says Julio Jones is not coming to the Patriots.
-- Why does everyone is baseball have to have a nickname or a shortened name?
-- Have I mentioned that Kyrie Irving is an idiot.
-- For those who listen to ‘Gresh & Keefe’, yes. I am that picky an eater. A FORMER FAT FACT: I used to work at Pizza Hut. I have adapted their technique for stuffed crust pizza so I can make it at home.
-- Bruins vs. Islanders will be fantastic. The B’s are better than during the regular season. And yes, they win in six.
-- I think what I will appreciate the most about the pandemic is how almost every restaurant now has an app for online ordering.
-- I really want a Brooklyn Nets vs L.A. Lakers NBA Finals. It might cause Rich Keefe to have a stroke.
-- Thanks to Rob Bradford for allowing me to spew my B.S. each week.
Gresh is co-host of ‘Gresh & Keefe’ 10a-2p, Monday-Friday on the WEEI Sportsradio Network. He is also co-author of ‘The Great Book of Boston Sports Lists’
