On Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET, the NFL league-wide deadline hit for teams to cut down their rosters to 53 players.
Heading into Tuesday morning, the Patriots’ roster sat at 76 players. For those who struggle with math (like me), that meant the team needed to release 23 players by Tuesday afternoon.
Before we get to those cuts, here's what the final 53-man roster looks like as of publishing:
QB: Drake Maye, Joshua Dobbs
RB: TreVeyon Henderson, Rhamondre Stevenson, Antonio Gibson
WR: DeMario Douglas, Stefon Diggs, Mack Hollins, Kayshon Boutte, Kyle Williams, Efton Chism III, Javon Baker, Kendrick Bourne
TE: Hunter Henry, Austin Hooper, Jack Westover
OL: Will Campbell, Jared Wilson, Garrett Bradbury, Michael Onwenu, Morgan Moses, Ben Brown, Marcus Bryant, Vederian Lowe, Caedan Wallace
DT: Milton Williams, Christian Barmore, Khyiris Tonga, Jeremiah Pharms, Joshua Farmer
EDGE: Harold Landry, K’Lavon Chaisson, Elijah Ponder, Keion White, Anfernee Jennings
LB: Robert Spillane, Christian Elliss, Jack Gibbens, Marte Mapu
CB: Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis, Marcus Jones, Alex Austin, D.J. James
S: Jaylinn Hawkins, Craig Woodson, Jabrill Peppers, Kyle Dugger, Brenden Schooler, Dell Pettus
ST: Andy Borregales, Bryce Baringer, Julian Ashby
Here’s our tracker of who was cut by the Patriots on Tuesday:
- Per Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, the Patriots are waiving offensive tackle Demontrey Jacobs. He started 13 games last season for New England. He finished the year ranked 137th out of 140 qualified tackles by Pro Football Focus, with an overall grade of 38.2 out of 100.

- Per Mark Daniels of MassLive, the Patriots are waiving kicker Parker Romo. This means sixth-round pick Andy Borregales has officially won the kicking job in New England after a close battle with Romo all camp. Not for nothing, but Romo was my unofficial winner of the “First Guy on the Training Camp Field Award” for 2025, and put a lot of good stuff on tape. With a league always in desperate need of kickers, I have to imagine Romo finds work this fall.
- Per Mark Daniels of MassLive, the Patriots are waiving cornerback Miles Battle. The 25-year-old spent most of last season on New England’s practice squad before being promoted to the active roster for their season finale against the Bills.

- Per Mike Reiss of ESPN, the Patriots are waiving cornerback Brandon Crossley. In his post on X.com, Reiss said the undrafted free agent "got his hands on the football in camp," but was dealing with longer odds to make the team with the depth New England has at his position.

- Per Doug Kyed of The Boston Herald, the Patriots are waiving wide receiver John Jiles. The 6-foot-3 wideout from Division II West Florida spent most of last season on the New England practice squad after being cut from Giants camp.

- Per Mark Daniels of MassLive, the Patriots are waiving veteran safety Marcus Epps. Both Daniels and Doug Kyed of The Boston Herald reported that the 29-year-old requested to be released, with Kyed adding "not a fit" to his post on X.com. Epps signed with the Patriots in March after spending the last two years of his career with the Raiders - one of which as a captain under then-head coach Josh McDaniels.

- Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Patriots are waiving tight end CJ Dippre. The 6-foot-5 tight end out of Alabama went undrafted this spring, signing with the Patriots on May 9.

- Per Doug Kyed of The Boston Herald, the Patriots are waiving defensive tackle David Olajiga with the intention of signing the 6-foot-3, 315-pound lineman to their practice squad. A second-year pro, Olajiga spent last season on the Rams practice squad, entering the league via the International Player Pathway program as a native of the United Kingdom. With that international designation, the Patriots will be able to carry an additional player on their practice squad, per league rules.

- Per Doug Kyed of The Boston Herald, the Patriots are waiving center Alec Lindstrom. A native of Dudley, MA, Lindstrom played college football at Boston College from 2017 to 2021. Coming out of school, he signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cowboys in 2022. Since then, he's spent time with the Rams, Jets and Memphis Showboats (UFL).

- Per Mark Daniels of MassLive, the Patriots are waiving guard Mehki Butler. The rookie offensive lineman signed with New England as an undrafted free agent on May 12. After starting his college career at JUCO Iowa Western, Butler spent four years at Arkansas State of the Sun Belt Conference. Daniels added on X.com that New England is planning to add Butler to its practice squad.

- Per Mark Daniels of MassLive, the Patriots are waiving linebacker Cam Riley. The 6-foot-4, 228-pound rookie was an undrafted free agent out of Florida State this spring.

- Per Doug Kyed of The Boston Herald, the Patriots are waiving running back JaMycal Hasty. The 28-year-old had spent parts of the last two seasons in New England after stops in San Francisco (2020-21) and Jacksonville (2022-23) to start his career. He first signed with the Patriots in November of 2023 after being waived by the Jaguars. Hasty was a late addition to Patriots camp this summer, re-signing with New England on August 5 before inevitably being cut.

- Per Mike Reiss of ESPN, the Patriots have waived edge rusher Truman Jones. A Harvard alum and a Boston native, Jones spent the first two seasons of his career with the Chiefs (2023-24), primarily as a member of their practice squad. Reiss went on to say in his post on X.com that if Jones were to clear waivers, he believes the 25-year-old would have a spot on the practice squad "waiting for him."

- Per Mark Daniels of MassLive, the Patriots are waiving running back Terrell Jennings with the intention of retaining the 24-year-old on the practice squad. After going undrafted in 2024, Jennings signed with New England as a free agent. He made it to their practice squad after camp last year, eventually being elevated to the gameday roster ahead of the Patriots' Week 6 game against the Texans.

- Per Mark Daniels of MassLive, the Patriots are waiving tight end Gee Scott Jr. At 6-foot-3, Scott joined the Patriots on May 9 as an undrafted free agent, entering the NFL after capping off his five-year career at Ohio State with a National Championship.

- As first reported by both Mike Reiss and Doug Kyed, the following players were among the final cuts for the Patriots: OL Cole Strange, WR Jeremiah Webb, OL Bradyn Swinson, OL Jack Conley and DB Kobee Minor. In a prior post on X.com, Reiss reported the release of DT Jahvaree Ritzie.

Shortly after preseason game No. 3, the Patriots made a bevy of releases, allowing these players to hit the free agent market early to catch on with other teams:
- TE Jaheim Bell
- RB Micah Bernard
- DT Philip Blidi
- CB Isaiah Bolden
- TE Cole Fotheringham
- WR Phil Lutz
- LB R.J. Moten
- DT Kyle Peko
- CB Jordan Polk
- LB Monty Rice
- OL Layden Robinson
- G Tyrese Robinson
- G Sidy Sow
- RB Shane Watts
- QB Ben Wooldridge

It’s important to note that even after the 53-man roster is “set,” it certainly isn’t finalized for Week 1. With players being released around the league and the Patriots holding a league-leading $60+ million in cap space, logic says more changes are forthcoming.
