WFAN's Bob Papa, several Giants were inside Mall of America during shooting Friday night

A scary scene outside Minneapolis Friday night could have been even scarier for the New York Giants, who reportedly had at least a few players inside the Mall of America when it went on lockdown after a deadly shooting last night.

One who was confirmed inside the mall was our own Bob Papa, the play-by-play man Tweeting that he was locked down in a restaurant after the shooting.

The Giants’ team hotel is near the Mall in Bloomington, a suburb about 10 miles south of U.S. Bank Stadium and just outside the perimeter of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport.

Thankfully, Pat Hanlon, the Giants' executive vice president of communications, told The Associated Press late Friday that “everyone is back in the hotel and accounted for now” ahead of Saturday afternoon’s game.

The shooting, which took place at the mall’s Nordstrom location, left one 19-year-old victim dead after what appeared to be an altercation between two groups just before 8 p.m. CT, according to Bloomington’s Police Chief.
