Landon Collins had three tackles Sunday against his former team, and now, the Giants have a decision to make: do they sign him to the active roster?

Sunday was Collins’ third call-up from the practice squad, maxing out his eligibility in that realm, and head coach Brian Daboll said Monday that the team “will discuss Collins’ spot” this week.
"That's something Joe (Schoen) and I will talk about, not just about Landon, but with all the individuals we do each week,” Daboll said. “We haven't had the chance to sit down and discuss those things. But certainly that topic, amongst probably a bunch of other ones like they do each week come up, we'll talk about it."
Collins signed with the Giants practice squad on Oct. 6 and was active against Jacksonville and Seattle before making his third appearance Sunday.
A safety by trade, Collins actually played more like an inside linebacker on Sunday, an easy transition given he spent quite a bit of time early in his career as a safety down in the box to stuff the run.
Two of Collins’ three tackles were huge linebacker plays, a tackle for loss on RB Brian Robinson and a stuffing of Curtis Samuel on a third down, and given the Giants’ rotation at inside linebacker and plethora of injuries in the secondary this season, he could be a key piece down the stretch.
The Giants have a full 53-man roster, but are currently carrying 10 offensive linemen – with one, Shane Lemieux, inactive Sunday due to injury – and four tight ends.
Big Blue plays Minnesota Saturday, then has the Colts on New Year’s Day before finishing with the Eagles on Jan. 8. At 8-5-1, they likely need two wins to ensure a playoff spot, but with a 1 ½ game lead over the 7-7 Lions and Seahawks, 9-7-1 could also do the trick as long as both don’t win out.
