Tiki rips Giants starting Drew Lock, wonders if team really feels he gives them best chance

Shaun Morash declared Sunday’s loss to Michael Penix Jr. and the Falcons the lowest point of the Joe Schoen/Brian Daboll era, which is saying something considering how the past two seasons have transpired.

Tiki Barber was also furious with the Giants blowout loss to Atlanta, particularly Drew Lock’s rough day under center, which included a pair of pick sixes in a 10th straight loss. But the real source of his anger was the decision to start and stick with Lock, which he believes is a bad look for Brian Daboll.

“I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t trust that decisions are being made in the interest of winning,” Tiki said. “I’m not saying they’re tanking, but I told you months ago who Drew Lock was...there are moments where he’s gonna make terrible, game-changing decisions. I’ve seen it since he was a rookie.

“I found myself saying, forget giving you the best chance to win. Playing Drew Lock almost ensures that you’re going to lose, because he’s going to do this constantly.”

Of course, the loss on Sunday coupled with the Raiders’ win over the Jaguars moved Big Blue into position to secure the No. 1 pick if things hold over the final two weeks, so is there incentive to start Lock for that purpose? Tiki didn’t seem to rule it out.

“He’s not the guy you want to put into a situation to try to win a football game,” Tiki said. “I would have rather seen Tim Boyle on the field...we know who Drew Lock is, so how the heck can you keep putting him out there?

“They can’t honestly think that Drew Lock gives them the best chance to win.”
