Ryan Fitzpatrick joined Boomer and Gio on Tuesday morning, and the former Jets quarterback was asked if the current Gang Green veteran quarterback should still be starting for the team.
Boomer believes Joe Flacco should be given another chance, while Gio is ready to try New York’s chances with Mike White. Fitzpatrick is siding with Boomer.
“I would stick with Joe Flacco,” Fitzpatrick said. “That’s probably skewed a little bit because I was a veteran guy for so long. They came out and it was an uninspired performance, and it was kind of tough to watch at times.
“He really is the guy that’s gonna be able to stabilize a lot of things and he’s gonna be able to get some of these young guys going. I think he deserves another shot. He’s the guy that’s been doing all the work late in the preseason with the [starters].”
Fitzpatrick, who has plenty of experience as a veteran fill-in during his NFL career, believes that the Jets’ young core will benefit more from having Falcco under center, even considering how lifeless the offense looked at times on Sunday.
“Elijah Moore, Corey Davis, those guys are all gonna be better with Joe Flacco at quarterback,” Fitzpatrick said.
