The Carolina Panthers do not have any good options at quarterback.

Cam Newton’s comeback story continues to be a gigantic bust as he struggled yet again on Sunday against the Bucs and this time he was replaced by Sam Darnold, who was the team’s starter to begin the season, after throwing an interception.

Well, it is safe to say Darnold has totally fallen out of favor amongst the fans.

The 24-year-old quarterback was booed by his home fans -- at least the few who showed up -- as he entered the game in the second quarter — his first action since Week 9 when he was sidelined with a shoulder injury.

Darnold, who got the Panthers off to a 3-0 start this season, completely fell apart since then. He lost five of the next six games he started and entered Sunday with seven touchdowns to 11 interceptions while completing 59.5% of his pass attempts.

He played three series in the second quarter, completing four of six pass attempts for 75 yards, although head coach Matt Rhule kept sporadically subbing Newton back in for the occasional play before letting Newton take the reins again in the third quarter.

Most of that yardage came from a 63-yard catch-and-run from Shi Smith, although the Panthers still couldn’t find the end zone.

Ultimately, it didn’t seem to matter who was under center for Carolina on Sunday, a huge problem the team will need to address this offseason.
