The Kansas City Chiefs and New York Jets are two teams that could not be headed in more different directions, and that could not have been more evident on Sunday.

The Chiefs manhandled the Jets in a 35-9 victory, but perhaps no stat summed up these two teams than the following:

Patrick Mahomes threw for five touchdown passes against the Jets. That is one more touchdown pass than the Jets have thrown all season (4).

It has been that type of year for Gang Green, which dropped to 0-8 on the season and remain the only winless team in the NFL.

Sam Darnold was uninspiring with offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains calling plays for the second straight week, completing 18 of 30 passes for 133 yards. The team’s nine points came courtesy of three field goals.

To add insult to injury, Mahomes acknowledged earlier this week that the he believed the Jets “definitely” had interest in him heading into the 2017 NFL Draft, but decided to go in a different direction (drafting Jamal Adams).

It was Mahomes’ 10th career game with at least four touchdown passes, passing Hall of Famer Len Dawson for the most four passing touchdown games in Chiefs history.

The Chiefs improved to 7-1 with the victory.
