According to Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Jets have made wide receiver Allen Lazard available in trade talks this offseason, meaning a former Aaron Rodgers teammate is on the block.
Evan did not like the sound of that at all, especially not after opening Thursday’s show with the belief that the Jets quarterback could seek a VP run and take away from his focus on football.
“This is not good, not good,” Evan said. “You don't see what this is? You don't see what this is? Panic, panic, panic.
“I think we're getting a message. Aaron Rodgers is out, and he’s not playing. He's running for vice president and he's not playing, because the only reason Allen Lazard was here was to play with Aaron Rodgers.”
If the Jets are making players that Rodgers wanted in New York with him available via trade, then Evan has concerns that Rodgers could be on his way out.
“Aaron Rodgers, after his political statement from three hours ago, probably told napping Joe, ‘Not sure I'm playing next year,’” Evan said. “To which Joe Douglas immediately said, ‘Why would I want Allen Lazard on my team? He's a stiff.’
“I mean, am I crazy for that to be my first reaction? I'm worried. I'm a little panicked. Dude, it's happening. He's getting rid of his friends!”
